How does BCC work?

Bcc sends a copy of your email to anyone in the bcc field but hides their email address from all other recipients. Bcc recipients won’t be able to use the reply-all function. No one who receives the email can see bcc recipients, and bcc recipients can’t see each other either. Where did the term blind carbon copy come from?

What does Bcc mean in email?

Open your email, and let’s dive in! What is bcc in an email? “Bcc” stands for blind carbon copy. It’s similar to carbon copy (cc), which sends a copy of your email to anyone you add to the cc field in your email provider. Bcc sends a copy of your email to anyone in the bcc field but hides their email address from all other recipients.

How does cc work?

When you CC people on an email, the CC list is visible to all other recipients. For example, if you CC [email protected] and [email protected] on an email, Bob and Jake will both know that the other received the email, as well. BCC stands for “blind carbon copy.” Unlike with CC, no one but the sender can see the list of BCC recipients.

How do I add cc & bcc to an email draft?

To the right of the “To” line of an email draft, you’ll find options for CC and BCC. Click either one (or both) to bring up new lines, and include email addresses as relevant there before sending your email. If you’re using Outlook, CC will be available by default, and you’ll have to click BCC (to the right of the To field) to add a line for it.
